Aashiqui 3 Update: T-Series Clarifies That The Kartik Aaryan Starrer Is Shelved For Now
In a rather disheartening update for the fans of romance out there, T-series has clarified in a recent statement that the third film of the ‘Aashiqui’ franchise has been shelved by the production house for now.
Aashiqui 3 was supposed to star the Satyaprem Ki Katha actor Kartik Aaryan, and Tripti Dimri was rumoured to be the female lead.
"If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films / Mukesh Bhatt, being joint owners in the franchise, shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T- Series,” the statement further added.

The makers concluded by saying, “Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Our commitment lies in consistently delivering top-notch content, and we eagerly anticipate future ventures with our esteemed partners.”
The news about the third installment of the Aashiqui franchise was released by Kartik Aaryan in September 2022. In a post the actor made on Instagram, he wrote, “Ab Tere Bin Ji Lenge Hum, Zeher Zindagi Ka Pi Lenge Hum #Aashiqui3. This one is going to be heart-wrenching!! My First with Basu Da”.
Aashiqui 3 would’ve marked Kartik’s first time working with the Anurag Basu. Sharing his enthusiasm about the project, the actor expressed, “The timeless classic Aashiqui is something I grew up watching, and working on Aashiqui 3 is like a dream come true."
"I feel privileged yet grateful to be collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work, and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways,” said the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 actor.
The actor also posted a picture of himself with Anurag Basu, Pritam, Bhushan Kumar, and Mukesh Bhatt while sharing the upcoming project.
Aashiqui’s first part came out in 1990 and featured Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. This movie became a blockbuster and gave us timeless musical pieces that are loved to this day.
Aashiqui 2 came out in April 2013, with Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor playing the leads.

T-Series releases Aashiqui 3 update: Shelves production for now
The statement released by the production house was shared by critic and film trade analyst Taran Adarsh on his X account. The statement read, “T-Series wishes to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3.""If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films / Mukesh Bhatt, being joint owners in the franchise, shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T- Series,” the statement further added.
