3BHK Movie Review
Have you ever dreamt of owning your own home? For many, this dream is a lifelong pursuit, a journey filled with hope, struggle, and countless sacrifices. The new film "3BHK" beautifully captures this very essence, chronicling a middle-class family`s two-decade-long struggle to buy their dream home in Chennai. It’s a story that resonates deeply, asking a question many Indian families face: "Can they actually afford to buy a home in the city? Or would they spend the rest of their lives living out of rented homes?"
From the opening scene, where Vasudevan wistfully eyes an under-construction apartment, the family’s quest begins. They huddle together, doing the math, and despite the odds, they dare to dream. For some, this dream is fulfilled quickly, but for the Vasudevan family, it becomes the purpose of their lives.
Just as the family gets close to their goal, life throws financial curveballs. Director Sri Ganesh showcases their Sisyphean quest where every saving is diverted towards unexpected expenses—be it capitation fees for Prabhu, Aarthi’s marriage, or mounting medical bills.
The film authentically portrays the individual struggles of each family member. Vasudevan adapts to a changing work environment, Shanthi starts a home food business, and Prabhu battles professional frustrations, convincingly portrayed by Siddharth, who looks not a day older than when he debuted in Boys in 2003.

While the narrative can feel predictable, its warmth and authenticity make it a worthy watch. The film avoids manufactured drama, focusing instead on the relatable struggles and quiet moments of family bonding. With a fresh musical perspective from composer Amrit Ramnath, 3BHK feels like a tight hug of reassurance. It is a worthy addition to the list of feel-good family entertainers.
