Oh My God 2: CBFC Chairperson Prasoon Joshi To Watch Akshay Kumar-Pankaj Tripathi Starrer Today

The makers of Oh My God 2 recently dropped its teaser, and the upcoming movie has already garnered enough buzz. Amidst all this, the Akshay Kumar-Pankaj Tripathi starrer has been sent to the Central Board of Film Committee (CBFC) to avoid inviting any controversies over its dialogues and scenes. This comes amidst the backlash Adipurush had to face.

Today, the chairman of the Central Board of Film Committee, Prasoon Joshi, will sit down to watch Oh My God 2. After watching the movie, he will then pass his verdict. The Revision Committee will then decide to alter the movie's scenes and dialogue, if any.

CBFC to review Oh My God 2

This move comes amidst the backlash faced by Prabhas and Kriti Sanon's Adipurush. The movie that depicted the Indian mythology tale Ramayana faced several protests because of its demeaning dialogue and wrong depiction of certain characters. The makers of Oh My God 2 want to avoid the same mistake.



The screening for the Revising Committee to review the Akshay Kumar starrer will be held on Monday, July 17. The CBFC chairperson, Prasoon Joshi, will also be a part of the same.

A source close to the development said, 'Usually, the Chief Executive Officer of the CBFC, Ravinder Bhakar, awards the certificate. His signature is seen on almost all the censor certificates. But in the case ofOMG, Oh My God 2, Prasoon Joshi himself will go through the film and make a decision accordingly. He has decided to spearhead the RC as the CBFC wants to be fully sure that OMG,Oh My God 2doesn't have any scene or dialogue that can cause a problem.'

The pre-review of Oh My God 2 is only to prevent any controversies and to avoid hurting people's sentiments. The movie deals with religious sentiments and societal issues that may or may not offend the audience.


Having said that, the industry experts are rather confident that the Pankaj Tripathi starrer will sail through without attracting any debates or bickering.

An expert said, 'Did the first part ofOMG Oh My Godcause any controversy despite its content? The makers had smartly made that film and taken a balanced approach. The second part is also handled in the same manner. Let's not forget that Akshay Kumar himself is quite religious and would never agree to be a part of a film that can hurt religious sentiments. of his beloved fans.'

About Oh My God 2

The upcoming mythology drama features Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam in prominent roles. Akshay will be seen as Lord Shiva, while Tripathi plays an atheist whose life is about to take a U-turn.

The movie will clash with Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2. Oh My God 2 is all set to release on August 11 in cinemas near you.
