19 Years of Jab We Met
Geet`s character`s inspiration
The character of Geet was inspired by an extraordinarily talkative girl that director Imtiaz Ali once met during a bus journey in Delhi.
Bebo`s first time on a train
The opening sequence where Geet runs frantically to catch a train was the very first time Kareena Kapoor had ever stepped foot on a real train.
Organic character arc
Geet`s emotional downslide & painful turn in the second half of the film were not planned from the beginning; her character arc evolved naturally.
Imtiaz Ali`s snowstorm moment
Imtiaz Ali wrote a large portion of the film`s dialogues while he was stranded in a severe snowstorm. He later won a Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue.
Accidental dialogue writer
Imtiaz Ali started writing his own dialogues out of budget constraints on his earlier work & continued the practice here as he wrote how everyday people talked.
A swarm of bees during the climax
While filming the final kissing scene between Geet and Aditya, the crew and actors faced major interruptions from a nearby honeycomb and a swarm of bees.
Title suggestion
The iconic title Jab We Met was actually suggested by Shahid Kapoor`s father and veteran actor Pankaj Kapur.
