8 Safe Spots To Go During Nuclear Attack
Underground metro stations
Reinforced concrete walls and multiple layers of earth – the deeper, the better. Metro stations provide excellent safety from radiation and blast pressure.
Basement levels of malls
Thick surround materials of concrete/steel act as a layer between you and the outside. Head to at least two or more underground levels to protect yourself.
Natural caves/Underground rock shelters
Thick rock works the best at blocking radiation. Earth acts as a natural insulator. Take shelter at nearby caves, as they are natural bunkers.
Enclosed tunnels
This is an alternative option in case no metro station is around. Remember, this is a survival hack, not a luxury. Be aware of flooding risks.
Interior windowless rooms
Pick a windowless room, ideally on the lower floor, but not on the street level. Often accessible in offices, schools, or hospitals. Bathrooms work well too.
Old forts or Stone temples
Thick stones absorb heat and radiation. They were historically designed for siege and shelter. Use them to your advantage, especially the lower chambers.
Remote forest or hill areas
Far from urban-populated cities, these areas lower the chance of a direct blast. Hills often have caves that can protect you from radiation.
Underground parking lots
Layers of concrete and a sealed environment also offer an easy entry during panic scenarios. Head to the lowest level and stay near center pillars.
Bonus tips for any location
Avoid glass and open areas. Stay inside for at least 72 hours, ideally more. Keep an emergency kit with water, snacks, a torchlight, and a power bank along.
