
Salman Khan has condemned the brutal incident of gang-rape and murder of a young veterinarian on the outskirts of Hyderabad on November 27.

The Bollywood superstar took to social media to vent his anger against the culprits who committed the heinous crime. He addressed them as "the worst kind of 'shaitans' disguised in the human form."

Since the last couple of days, hashtags demanding justice for the gang-rape and murder victim have been trending on Twitter.

Using such a hashtag, Salman Khan tweeted, "These are the worst kind of 'shaitans' devils disguised in the human form! The pain, torture and death of innocent women like Nirbhaya should now get us together and put an end to such 'shaitans' who live among us, before any other innocent woman...

"...and their family go through this extreme agony and loss as this has to be stopped. Let betii bachao not be just a campaign. This is the time to let these demons know that we all stand together. May victim's name soul rest in peace."

Another Bollywood actor, Varun Dhawan, has also expressed his disgust over the incident and raised his voice demanding justice for the victim's family.

Using the hashtag seeking justice for the victim, Varun tweeted: "We as Indians discuss and are passionate about so many things. The entire country needs to come together and stop rapes from happening. Why is it that girls can be harmed so easily. Why aren't these evil bastards scared of the law?"

"Right now the only focus has to be on making sure this girl and her family gets justice," he added in a separate tweet.

Demanding quick investigation into the case, fashion photographer and film producer Atul Kasbekar took to social media to remind everyone that the culprits of the 2012 Delhi gangrape case have not yet been hung.

He tweeted, "When the criminal justice system fails to be an effective deterrent, the run of heinous crime is unabated. In case of rape/murder:

- we must have quick investigation n arrests
- fast track courts
- quick dispensation of the sentence

PS: The Nirbhaya killers haven't been hung as yet."

On Sunday afternoon, the hashtag NoMercyToRapists also started trending on Twitter with netizens demanding severe and immediate action against the four accused in the gruesome gang-rape and murder incident.

People across the country are demanding capital punishment for the rapists and voicing their protests on social media as well as taking to the streets.

Fitness is important for actress Katrina Kaif and she wants everybody to incorporate it in their life, but is against the idea of people trying to get a physique like others. She says she doesn't believe in an "ideal physique" or "ideal way" that a woman should look.

The "Bharat" actress has long working hours and various work commitments, but she doesn't let them come in the way of her fitness.

"It is very simple. There are 24 hours in a day. If you can't take out even 40 minutes in a day then I think it is your choice or there is not a reason enough to do it. Maybe it's not working for you but if fitness is important to you, you can take out 45 minutes in a day wherever you are," Katrina told IANS in a telephonic interview.

"There are so many different types of training that one can do. The most important thing is to find the type of training that works for you. Don't try to copy somebody else. I don't believe that there is any ideal physique or any ideal way a woman should look. 

"A woman should look the way she feels comfortable in her own skin and the way she wants to look and that's for each of us to decide what is our ideal body image that we want to achieve through fitness, our fitness goals," added the new brand ambassador of Reebok in India.

Talking about the association, she shared: "When it comes to Reebok, I think we both have similar way of approaching fitness."

She wanted to team up with a brand that she identifies with when it comes to fitness.

"Beyond movies also, fitness is a big part of my life. I think having a company like Reebok that has a similar approach and way of thinking about fitness, makes it a perfect fit," said the actress, whose fitness goals keep changing with time, role and film.

"There are times when I just do yoga or Pilates because my film demands a character which is a little more easy and softer... someone who looks like she doesn't go to the gym," she added.

Sharing an example, she said: "For 'Bharat', I just did Pilates, yoga, walking and gentle cardio."

Her workout regime changes if it's an action film.

Asked about her upcoming action film "Sooryavanshi", she said: "I am not doing much of action in it. It's kind of just a more... regular look in my film."

The "Tiger Zinda Hai" actress has a cheat day too.

"Everything in life... you have to break it up. You have to balance it. Sunday is always my cheat day. I eat whatever I want to. If I am not having a strict goal for a particular song or film, I am easy. 

"I am not obsessive about anything, but I do make sure I do swimming, cardio or Pilates or yoga."



Dont believe theres any ideal way women should look: Katrina


It was Priyanka Chopra Jonas who had initially shown keen interest to be a part of "Bharat", according to superstar Salman Khan who says her last-minute exit from the film was "embarrassing".

Now that the film is over and ready for release, does he think that Priyanka may have been a wrong cast choice for the role?

Salman said in a media interaction here: "No, not a wrong cast. But initially, Priyanka was very keen to do this film. Ali director Ali Abbas Zafar and we all thought it was Katrina Kaif's film. But Katrina and I did 'Tiger Zinda Hai' just before that and Ali said that we need a girl who is ‘Hindustani'.

"I tried telling him, 'Why can't she Katrina pull off this role? She has been living in India for the last 20 years.' But then Ali said, ‘Priyanka ka phone aaya tha… we got a call from Priyanka' and it is also true that Priyanka and my sister Arpita Khan are good friends.

"After all this, the ‘Nick story' happened, the embarrassing thing happened and she chose to get married."

Salman said: "Look, she did the right thing. She did what she wanted, and Katrina got what she deserved. She Priyanka informed us five days before the schedule was supposed to start... she must have thought that in this way I would get upset with her and will never work with her.

"She spoke to me saying, 'Nick American actor-singer Nick Jonas has proposed to me and I want to get married, so there will be some date issues'. I said, 'Sure, get married, we can adjust those two, three days. Then she said that she does not want to do the film."

While he believes Priyanka is a hard-working actress, who efficiently maintains her career in Bollywood as well as in the American entertainment industry, he said it takes guts to leave one of the biggest films of her career to get married.

Priyanka, soon after leaving "Bharat", opted for "The Sky Is Pink".

"Bharat" is releasing on June 5.



Initially Priyanka was keen to do Bharat: Salman


She has been a part of some of Bollywood's biggest hits like "Namastey London", "Dhoom 3" and "Ek Tha Tiger", but her last few films, including "Baar Baar Dekho" and "Jagga Jasoos", didn't get an impressive response at the box office. But actress Katrina Kaif says she is "extremely happy and satisfied with the kind of films" she is doing.

"I really enjoy my work," the actress, who has been roped in as the brand ambassador of eyewear company Lenskart, told IANS when asked if she misses finding some free time amidst so many films and endorsement deals.

"I am very driven and focused about what I want to do. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the kind of films I am doing, getting to work with people who I enjoy working with, learning from new people. It is the same with brands too. It's not just about showing up on sets, but being a part of the behind-the-scene interactions as well. So, I enjoy my job," added the actress.

Katrina will be the face of Lenskart for the next two years and will also feature in the brand's new campaign 'How do I Look'. She says she found the officials "innovative, talented and visionary", due to which she decided to come on board.

The actress made her film debut in the 2003 erotic heist film "Boom", which bombed at the box office. Her initial success in Bollywood happened when she appeared opposite Salman Khan in David Dhawan's romantic comedy "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?" and her success story continued with films like "Partner", "Welcome", "Race" and "Singh Is Kinng".

However, her previous few films didn't do great business at the box office in spite of being creative and different in terms of story line.

But the actress is positive.

"With every film, you try and make sure that you are learning. And if there is ever a point when you are distracted, may be you question yourself -- 'Why? What is happening here? Where am I going wrong? How do I push myself?'," said the 34-year-old.

She said everyone goes through a phase where they are extremely inspired and then there are times when they feel stagnant.

"But the idea is to keep pushing yourself. Try and reinvent and make sure you are doing something new."

Katrina has played characters that many girls relate with in real life, but is there any dream role that she wants to portray on the big screen?

"For me, every script is a new journey and when the script comes to you, you get excited by that vision. It's something that has to come on its own."

It's not just films, but the actress is also grabbing eyeballs for her friendship with contemporaries -- whether it is sharing a comfortable moment with Anushka Sharma at filmmakar Karan Johar's chat show or posting photographs of a gym session with Alia Bhatt.

Asked if the concept of rivalry and cat fights is passe in Bollywood, she said: "Actors have always been like that. There are always some people with whom you get along really well, while there are some you don't know so well. It's more visible and open now because of the social media.

"We are more accessible to media now but friendships have always been there."

The actress is currently busy shooting for "Tiger Zinda Hai" and "Thugs of Hindustan". However, she refused to comment on the status of her films.



I am very driven and focused: Katrina Kaif


For the first time, Sohail Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui have teamed up their forces for the super-entertaining ‘Freaky Ali’. What do you get when you mix Nawaz’s acting chops with Sohail’s entertaining formula? Team Radio City catches up with the duo to find out.

Sohail, before we talk about the film, we want to ask you this. Now that you’re father has become a radio jockey and our competitor in a way, what’s your take on radio as a medium?

Sohail: I think the work that you do and the messages that you convey are commendable and beautiful. I feel that the radio has the maximum reach to people. Irrespective of where people are, you sit in your studios and communicate so much to millions of them. All of you are so wonderful, with the way you greet people and listen to them. Which is what our father believes and that is why, he likes the radio as a medium.

Coming to the film, what struck you to cast Nawazuddin as a sportsperson given his lean built? Because we know him as a character actor who will fit into any given mould, but what was your thought process while taking the casting decision?

Sohail: While writing the script, it came to me that we had to cast someone who will break the norm. Because about golf, there is a preset notion that it is a game only reserved for the elite and the rich. So how a man who hails from ordinary circumstances challenges the notion by displaying his golf skills, then goes to play championships and becomes a national-level player is what the movie is about.

Nawaz, we feel that you’ve received such a script after a long time because the last time you were in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ mining laughs unintentionally. We’ve heard that Salman Khan is a financial advisor of sorts for you. Infact, he recommended that you quote a high price for yourself and apparently, he even renegotiated for you.

Nawazuddin: We used to discuss a lot during the breaks on the sets of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’. So during those discussions did I realise that Bhai has a lot of knowledge about other things as well besides movies. We used to feel that he simply acts and leaves. But he does keep a track of other things as well.

Sohail: Basically Bhai told him to increase his fees and the next film he signed was mine. laughs But Nawaz is one of the most effortless actors we have. Irrespective of whether he plays a comical role or a negative character, there is a vulnerable streak to him. In his role in ‘Kick’, people were more excited to watch him perform than get scared of him. The art of performing is what makes Nawaz a brilliant actor.

So were there any surprises from him while on the set?

Sohail: You see, my father has worked with the best of actors when he used to write. Salim-Javed used to write stories that one could relate to. They used to not write dialogues but their own philosophies. With Nawaz, you give him any scene, he will deliver it in his own way. Now I’ve become so corrupted with his vibe that I want to do every film with him.

Nawaz, we will throw names at you and you have to tell us one thing about that person which we may not know.

Arbaaz Khan: He is very naughty.

Amy Jackson:  She is very simple and sweet. And very fair too. laughs

Sohail Khan: He is very sensitive.

Did you seek any special training in golf while shooting for the film?

Nawazuddin: No, actually.

Sohail: We did not want him to get into the technicalities as we wanted him to bring a little awkwardness to the part. Because in the film, he is unfamiliar with the sport. So we wanted him to be raw.

There is a scene where you are seen playing gully cricket with the kids. What you used to be while playing gully cricket in your hometown?

Nawazuddin: I used to be the batsman but sometimes I would bowl as well. But I really loved the gully cricket track with the kids in the movie.

Where has the film been shot?

Sohail: The film has been shot in Mumbai mostly. For the golf sequences, we shot in Delhi and Pune. We had a golf consultant named Siddharth Arora who assisted us with the technique. But we have retained the essence of golf. So golfers will not be let down.

Nawazuddin: I have learnt a lot about the game. You feel relaxed and composed and the greenery of the lawns absorbs your tension.

Sohail, since your dad is also a writer, do you take his advice on the script?

Sohail: Honestly, we do take dad’s judgement on our scripts. But, we usually write a script keeping in mind that we want it to be family friendly. Because we live in a joint family as well. So we want a U certificate from the censors, everytime.  Plus, dad does not have much time to dedicate to a script. So when we write our scripts, we take his opinion. All he tells us that we should not compromise on the script morally.

Salman had expressed his desire to be a part of this movie even at the trailer launch. Was he really that into the film?

Sohail: Yes, so much that there is a role for a henchman which he did not mind playing. We told him, how he could do such a small role since he is such a big star. He then said that he will sport a mooch and a mole. We laughed at him and said that who would recognise him if he sported one. But we feel that he was very happy with the film which is why he is now presenting the film.

 Lastly, Is it true that when Salman advises you, it works?

Nawazuddin: He does have an incredible sensibility. During ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, he told me the difference between a star and an actor. It stunned me as to how he knew it since the same thing was taught to me at National School of Drama and it is even mentioned in Alfred Hitchcock’s book. But he explained it to me in the exact way it has been written. So yes, the influence of Salman does leave a deep impact on those he cares for.



Salman has an incredible sensibility: Nawazuddin Siddiqui


Singer and former member of all girls pop band Viva, Neha Bhasin who has come up with a new single "Nai jaana", says it would be nice if the band comes together for one song just for their fans.

The band, which was formed in 2002, also comprised singers Seema Ramchandani, Pratichee Mohapatra, Mahua Kamat and Anushka Manchanda.

Asked if Viva would reunite, Bhasin told IANS: "It will be nice to come back for one song...even if it is just for the fans, but no talks right now."

The "Asalaam-e-Ishqum" hitmaker says she is not sure about the band's reunion.

"I am not sure about it Viva reunion. The likelihood of that is on the lesser side than on the more side. So I have no idea. We all talk. Now everybody is busy in their individual careers..." Bhasin added. 

Talking about films, the "Dhunki" hitmaker has crooned a romantic number for superstar Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma's upcoming film "Sultan".

"Sultan" is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
 



Will be nice for Viva to reunite for one song: Neha Bhasin


Salman Khan is known for portraying myriad shades on the cinematic canvas - be it his iconic 'Prem' avatar, zany police officer of "Dabangg" or a simpleton in "Bajrangi Bhaijaan". The superstar, who now awaits the release of the grand family drama "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", is eyeing greater success in showbiz as he believes in getting "bigger and better" with each film.

"After 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' and 'Sultan', I've signed nothing much yet. I have finalised one script. Whatever I do next has to be on the same level or much higher than that. A film of the same level, but of a different kind; or a better film is welcome. And currently, we are working on that script.

"Once you get appreciation for your work, you want to keep on getting that and keep on getting bigger and better," Salman, one of Bollywood's highest paid stars, told IANS in an interview during his visit here for promoting "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", which will also release in Pakistan.

It's a 'double bonanza' year for Salman's fans. After winning hearts in India and abroad, including Pakistan, with his heart-warming performance in "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", Salman, who will turn 50 on December 27, will be back with a bang as 'Prem' in Sooraj Barjatya's directorial that is releasing on November 12.

Prem is an onscreen name that Salman has taken on several times in his past films. But this time, the son of veteran writer Salim Khan says Prem is back with a lot more "fun and naughty antics".

He is also confident that the audience "will receive Prem really well" with "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", which reunites him with Barjatya after 16 years.

Barjatya introduced Salman as a lover boy of Bollywood through "Maine Pyar Kiya" in 1989, and they weaved the magic again onscreen with hit films like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" and "Hum Saath-Saath Hain".

Salman says it's always a delight to work with Barjatya, whom he considers "the best person in the world" and one who "connects with people from bottom of the heart". He also quipped that Barjatya, in fact, is "more romantic" than him.

"All the scenes that you see in a movie from 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' to 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain', they were written by Barjatya. I have just enacted them," said the handsome hunk, who has a huge female fan following across the globe.

In "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", Salman's heroine is Sonam Kapoor, who looks classy in colourful and traditional wear in the film's trailer. The movie's vibe is desi, and Salman has dual looks in it. With Barjatya's signature palatial sets, fancy costumes and a larger than life canvas, the movie looks like a Diwali treat for Salman's fans.

After that, he will be seen as a wrestler in "Sultan", for which the "Bigg Boss Nau" host is already sporting a refreshing avatar.

Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman Khan and the pretty lady Sonam Kapoor dropped by at Radio City 91.1FM studios in Mumbai. The stars set the studios abuzz with their candid confessions. Read on to get full details!

Salman, your character Prem in all Sooraj Barjatya films is so adorable. What’s the secret?
I think its Sooraj who makes me look so good. The honesty, passion and simplicity with which he portrays my character on screen, is what makes it best. Sooraj’s characters are never over-smart. They are naughty and innocent and that’s the beauty of them.

Sonam, tell us about your character Maithili.
She’s a very gentle girl and Sooraj Sir thinks this quality is inherent in me. But otherwise, he told me to be just my happy self in the film, which I did!

Salman, you are working with Sooraj Sir after a gap of almost 15 years. Why did it take you’ll so long to come together for a film?
It was all about the script. Every time he would write a film, Sooraj would come to me with the subject. For us, the criteria was to make a film that was much better than our previous collaborations. So we didn’t want to fall short anywhere. He was working on two scripts. One did not materialize for us and the other one did, which is ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ PRDP now.

For how long was Sooraj Sir working on the film?
He had the plot with him for a long time now; But he wasn’t able to crack it. So finally he’s cracked it now and the film is set to take off.

You have worked with Anil Kapoor in the past. So what was your equation with Sonam like on the sets of PRDP?
Salman: It was actually awkward for me initially to work with Sonam because her father is a very good friend of mine. But later as we went through the film, it was just a beautiful innocent love story, so the awkwardness died out. And now, I’m forced to call Anil, “Anil Sir”! laughs
Sonam: He’s just kidding. I told my dad, “Pappa, you have to come to terms with the fact that you’re Salman’s senior.” In fact Salman was also quite skeptical about working with me because he hasn’t done an out-and-out romantic film in a long time. So getting into that space and that too with me, I guess he was quite awkward. But it was Sooraj Sir who was most insistent on me doing the film.

How did you bag this role Sonam?
Sooraj Sir confirmed me for PRDP after ‘Raanjhanaa’. Every two weeks there was news about another actress playing the role. So I’d be really worked up and Sooraj Sir would console me, “Don’t worry beta, you will only be doing this film.”

How did your father react to you bagging a Sooraj barjatya film?
I think he was quite taken aback as he didn’t get an opportunity to work with him.

Sonam, what was your camaraderie with Salman like on the film set?
It was great working with Slman. He’s superhot and smells great! He’s very nice to me.

Salman, what’s your take on the PRDP music directed by Himesh Reshammiya?
It’s very different from what we hear today. He’s done a great job. We hadn’t heard of such music for many years now, so we all were quite apprehensive initially whether it would be accepted. But this music for PRDP is very relevant to the film, has beautiful lyrics and catchy tunes. It has a lot of goodness in it. In fact, when we were shooting for the songs, every one on set was humming it. But still we were apprehensive. And when the music was finally launched, it became a big hit. The romantic songs are especially very nice.

What do you like the most about this film Salman?
The fact that it’s a simple family film; like ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ was about everyone being equal and was filled with emotions. PRDP is about brothers and sisters and why there would be any animosity between them, who are the people who come into their lives and their intentions of separating them, and how everyone wants the same things- peace and unity and the bond they shared as children. It’s about how siblings share such a wonderful bond as kids and become foolish as they grow up, destroying all that they have. That’s what this film is all about- brothers and sisters should never fight. The film has a very sweet vibe and is very genuine.

The costumes of the film are extravagant. You’ll look so royal in the film. How was it being dressed that way?
Salman: It was actually quite uncomfortable for me. I’m a guy who wears torn jeans and chappals/boots. And upar jitna kam ho utna its better! It was really pakao boring for me to wear so many layers of clothes in the film. But when you’re all dressed up, you perfectly get into the character.
Sonam: My real personality and what I really like to wear was never reflected in my roles. But with PRDP, I let myself out. I got Anamika Khanna to design all the clothes for me, my mom is a jewelry designer so that came from there and the styling I did it myself. I had a blast and felt as if it was my wedding every day. My friends often tell me, you’ve done it all now, so what will you wear for your wedding! And I reply saying I’ll do a court marriage. laughs

Sonam, do you like Salman’s PRPDP look or the one from ‘Sultan’?
Sonam: As Maithili, I like his PRDP look. But as Sonam, I like a little bit of bad guy, so I’ll go with the Sultan look. I think he looks very sexy in it! laughs
Salman: Every day when I get up in the morning and see myself in the mirror, I get scared with my own look. I’ve put on weight for the film, so my 32 waist denims are not fitting and I have to settle for the size 34 with a belt! My entire wardrobe has gone for a toss.

Sonam, is Slaman always so funny?
Yes he is. Except for the time when he’s working, he’s very serious. He’s much focused and never leaves the set.
Salman: But I’m always late on set. During ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’, I was new and would always worry about reporting on set at 9am. I’d not be able to sleep all night, and just at 5-5:30 am, I’d get some good sleep. From the muhurat shot to the last scene, I was late. I respect people’s time always but the problem is that I never respected my own time. laughs
