Lollapalooza India was in the works for a long time. People were excited from the time the festival announced its entry into India, its 8th destination in the world. Recently the festival released its lineup and expectedly it created ripples amongst music lovers. With American alt-rockers Imagine Dragons and post punk revival icons The Strokes headlining the festival, one name on the lineup that stood out was that of Jackson Wang. Who is Jackson Wang and why you should be excited for his debut perfromance in India?

Jackson Wang is best known for being part of the popular K-Pop band GOT7. After splitting ways with JYP Entertainment, the company behind GOT7 in early 2021, Wang started focussing on his solo career and recently released his album MAGICMAN in September. His debut album, ‘Mirrors’, released in 2019 and reached number 32 on the US Billboard 200 charts. He is the founder of the music label Team Wang and is the creative director for fashion brand Team Wang Design. With hits like Pretty Please, 100 Ways and more, singer and rapper Wang enjoys a massive fan following in India. The singer took to Instagram to share his excitement about performing in India saying “FINALLY, I’m going to India. Waited too long… #MAGICMAN”. 

India has an ever growing K-pop fanbase. Even with K-pop tours to the country few and far between, bands like BTS and BLACKPINK enjoy cult following.
