Virat Kohli's World Cup 2023 Diet Revealed, Includes Steamed Dim Sums, Tofu And Mock Meat

When it comes to fitness, out of all Indian cricketers, Virat Kohli follows the most intense and disciplined diet. While he loves indulging in Chole Bhature and Rajma Chawal from time to time, the former Indian skipper ensures he works out a sweat to burn off those calories. Now, as the World Cup 2023 fever continues, a chef shared Virat's diet during the international tournament.

Ahead of the 2023 World Cup India vs. England match, the executive chef of The Leela, Anshuman Bali, shared that Virat Kohli has been eating during the international tournament.

While Kohli's hunger for runs and wickets is unending, he ensures to consume protein to be in optimum shape. The executive chef of the hotel revealed most of the players rely on a high-protein and low-carb diet during the World Cup season.

While many cricketers prefer grilled fish and chicken, Virat, being a vegan, relies on tofu and soy-based meals for his proteins.

"The buffet has all kinds of meat, but the players opt for steamed or grilled chicken or fish," said Bali. "Virat doesn't eat meat, so we went for steamed foods, like vegetarian dim sums, and other vegetable-based proteins, like soya, mock meats, and lean proteins, like tofu, for him. We include as little dairy as possible in his meals," the chef further added.

He also revealed that Australia and New Zealand teams usually prefer steamed or sauteacuteed vegetables along with steamed fish or chicken for lunch. However, Devon Conway would sometimes indulge in parathas.

"Many of the teams have stayed with us for the IPL earlier, so we know their preferences. The New Zealand team stays away from curries, but there are players such as Devon Conway, for example, who have tried Indian food before and will ask for parathas once in a while. Or dosa for breakfast," Anshuman said.

With the Indian team. Ragi dosa has been a constant favorite.

The chef revealed, "We have millet dosas, millet idlis, and quinoa idli on the menu. All the players know it's healthy protein, so they all tried it. Ragi dosas were a favorite with the Indian team for breakfast."

"For New Zealand, it was Pavlova, their national dessert, which is a meringue-based dessert made with egg white and filled with fresh fruits," he further added.

But when it comes to alcohol, it is a strict no-no among the teams, unless it's a post-win celebration. "And there is no alcohol unless there is a win, when there will be a little party," the chef concluded.
