Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj, Rana Daggubati in trouble
Trouble awaits South superstars like Vijay Deverakonda, Prakash Raj, and Rana Daggubati, as they have been booked for promoting illegal betting apps. Along with them, 25 other celebrities and social media influencers have been named in an FIR.
As per ANI, the report was filed by a 32-year-old businessman, Phanindra Sarma, with the Telangana Police. Along with these three stars, actresses like Manchu Lakshmi, Pranitha, and Nidhhi Agerwal are also among those booked.
Moreover, influencers like Ananya, Sreemukhi, Siri Hanumanthu, Shyamala, Varshini, Shobha, Neha, Pandu, Padmavathi, Imran Khan, and Vishnu Priya have also been mentioned in the report and are under police scrutiny.
As per the FIR, the accused are charged under multiple sections of the Bharat Nyay Samhita. The Liger actor has been booked for promoting the A23 betting app, while Rana Daggubati and Prakash Raj are under scrutiny for endorsing Junglee Rummy.
Actresses Manchu Lakshmi, Pranitha, and Nidhhi Agerwal promoted apps like Yolo 247, Fairplay, and Jeet Win, respectively. The complainant alleged that these actors and influencers endorsed betting apps through various pop-up ads.
He further claimed that these betting apps are significantly influencing and contributing to the moral corruption of the youth, leading to unending financial hardships. The complaint was filed on March 19, 2025.
It highlights the growing trend of celebrities jumping on the endorsement bandwagon to promote illegal apps in violation of the Public Gambling Act of 1867.
On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda is gearing up to play the lead role in Kingdom, an action-packed entertainer directed by Jersey filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri. The film, set to release on May 30, will explore different timelines in a two-part series.
As for Rana Daggubati, who was last seen in Vettaiyan, he will appear in season 2 of Rana Naidu. Apart from the action drama series, he is also expected to star alongside Dulquer Salmaan in the film Kaantha.
