Samay Raina summoned by Maharashtra Cyber Cell
Samay Raina has been hitting the headlines ever since the controversial episode of India`s Got Latent, where Ranveer Allahbadia appeared as a guest panellist, went viral. Amid his stand-up comedy shows in the USA and Canada, the comedian has been summoned yet again by the Maharashtra Cyber Cell.
For the uninitiated, he was summoned on March 17 to record his statement; however, he failed to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber Cell. Now, the cybercrime department has asked the comedian YouTuber to appear before it on March 19.
Samay Raina, who is currently on a stand-up comedy tour across America and Canada, initially requested permission to record a statement via video conferencing, citing his prior commitments to his abroad shows. However, the cyber cell rejected his plea and demanded an in-person appearance.

Last month, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell summoned YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, for his controversial statement on India`s Got Latent. He appeared on February 24 and was interrogated for quite some time.
What was the Samay Raina controversy?
It all began with the comedian`s show India`s Got Latent episode, where Allahbadia, a co-host on the panel, asked an inappropriate question to one of the contestants, sparking wide outrage and legal scrutiny.
The latter asked, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex or join in once and stop it forever?" This did not sit down well with the audience and even the legal authorities and political parties. The issue was dragged to the Supreme Court, where it criticised Ranveer`s comment as "dirty and perverted."
He was granted interim protection from the arrest given he fully cooperates with the investigation and does not leave the country without permission.
While Ranveer Allahabadia issued a public apology on social media, Samay Raina responded to the backlash, citing he only intended to make people laugh and ensure they had a good time.

“Everything that has been happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India`s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly,” the comedian stated.
Multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed against Raina, Allahabadia, and other individuals who were a part of the show, with charges including promoting obscenity.
