Ajith Kumar`s latest Tamil action thriller, Vidaamuyarchi, made a grand entrance into cinemas on February 6, 2025. Touted as the biggest Tamil opener of the year, the film garnered significant attention. However, despite its strong start, Vidaamuyarchi has experienced a consistent decline in box office collections over its two-week run.
By the end of its 14-day run, Vidaamuyarchi accumulated a total of Rupees 133.75 crore worldwide, with Rupees 93.75 crore from domestic markets and Rupees 40 crore from overseas collections. Despite the strong opening, the film struggled to maintain momentum. On Day 14, it earned Rupees 33 lakh, a 6.67% drop from the previous day`s Rupees 36 lakh. The film`s Tamil version contributed 77.38 crore rupees, while the Telugu version added 2 crore rupees to the domestic gross.
Audience engagement appeared to wane over the two weeks. On Wednesday, February 19, the film reported an 11.90% occupancy in Tamil Nadu, indicating a significant drop in theatre-goers. This decline suggests that the initial buzz may not have translated into sustained interest.
