Jolly LLB 3 faces legal action again for mocking judges
Bollywood’s much-awaited courtroom comedy-drama Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, has hit a fresh roadblock even before its release.
While fans are eagerly waiting to see the two powerhouse performers share the screen in the quirky legal satire, the film has now found itself at the center of controversy after a Pune court issued legal notices to the lead actors.
According to reports, lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar filed a complaint against the film, alleging that it insults the Indian judiciary and mocks court proceedings. In his plea, he pointed out that certain portrayals in the film demean the legal profession, reducing judges and lawyers to objects of mockery.
What particularly sparked outrage was a scene where judges are casually referred to as “mamu” — a slang expression that Bidkar claimed was highly disrespectful to the dignity of the court.
Following the complaint, the Pune court issued notices to both Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, directing them to appear before it on September 28. The matter has now sparked debates around the balance between creative freedom in cinema and the respect owed to legal institutions.
More clarity on the proceedings is expected once the actors or the filmmakers respond officially.
Not the first legal trouble for Jolly LLB 3
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Jolly LLB 3 has been dragged into controversy. Back in May 2024, the film had already courted legal trouble when the Ajmer District Bar Association President, Chandrabhan, filed a similar complaint.

He accused the makers of misrepresenting the judiciary, arguing that the franchise has a history of depicting lawyers and judges in an “indecent and humorous” manner. He even went so far as to urge the court to halt the film’s shooting altogether, citing damage to the credibility of the profession.
The Jolly LLB series has always walked the fine line between satire and seriousness. The first installment, starring Arshad Warsi, won acclaim for its sharp storytelling, while the sequel with Akshay Kumar tackled heavier subjects in a lighthearted yet socially conscious manner.
However, the latest part seems to be facing even more scrutiny, as the expectations are higher and the spotlight brighter.
With Jolly LLB 3 promising to bring both Akshay and Arshad together, fans are excited to witness the clash of two ‘Jollys’ in one courtroom. But with mounting legal challenges, the film’s journey to release may be anything but smooth.
For now, cinephiles will have to wait and see how these controversies unfold and whether the film manages to retain its humorous essence without offending sentiments.
