Vikrant Massey, the star of 12th Fail, has announced his next project in a recent Instagram post. He uploaded a teaser of the upcoming film 'The Sabarmati Report,' which is based on the tragic incident that occurred 22 years ago in Godhra, Gujarat.
Helmed by Ranjan Chandel, it also stars
Raashi Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in prominent role. Vikrant Massey will play the role of a journalist, Sraban Kumar, who sternly believes that the Godra incident wasn't an accident.

Vikrant Massey took to his Instagram account to share the teaser of The Sabarmati Report on the 22nd anniversary of the tragic burning of a train in Godhra.
He wrote in his caption, 'Paying homage to the 59 innocent people who lost their lives in the Godhra train burning incident 22 years ago, today. Presenting The Sabarmati Report, in cinemas on 3rd May, 2024."

In the teaser, Vikrant plays the character of journalist Shraban Kumar, who is about to report the tragic incident on camera.
He reads from the teleprompter, "Mai hun Shraban Kumar. Aaj 27 February 2002 ko Sabarmati Express naam ki ek train Ayodhya se chal ke Gujarat ke Godhra station par ek durghatna me jal gayi." (I'm Shraban Kumar. Today, on 27 February 2022, the Sabarmati Express travelling from
Ayodhya burned in an accident at Godhra station in Gujarat.) Hesitating for just a second, he says after, "Sabarmati Express ka jalna durghatna nahi thi sir..." (The burning of the Sabarmati Express wasn't an accident.)
The screen then cuts to shots from the original event, ending with the statement, "27th February 2002. Godhra, Gujarat. A homage to the 59 innocent lives burned to death. 22 years two official reports and multiple investigations later, The Sabarmati Report."

While the movie is based on
real-life events that took place 22 years ago, it promises to provide more insights into the events that led up to the tragedy and the stories of the people who experienced it firsthand.
The film stars Rashi Khanna, who will be next seen in
Yodha alongside Sidharth Malhotra. It also features Riddhi Dogra, who played the role of Shah Rukh Khan's mother in Jawan.
The Sabarmati Report is directed by Ranjan Chandel and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ekta Kapoor, Amul V. Mohan, and Anshul Mohan under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures.
The makers of the film announced that the film is an homage to the people who lost their lives in the incident and their families. The Sabarmati Report is set to hit cinemas near you on May 3, 2024.
