Sonakshi was scared to tell dad about marrying Zaheer Iqbal
Two years after tying the knot, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal continue to delight fans with glimpses of their married life, whether through vacation photos, candid moments or humorous social media reels. However, the actor has now shared a deeply personal story about the emotional conversation she had with her father, veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha, before their wedding.
Speaking on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi`s chat show Double Date, Sonakshi revealed that although she was certain about her relationship with Zaheer, she found it extremely difficult to tell her father that she wanted to marry him. She admitted that the thought of having the conversation made her nervous, even though she had already informed her mother about their relationship years earlier.
Recalling the moment, Sonakshi said she finally gathered the courage to speak to her father and told him that she was in love with Zaheer and wanted to marry him. Shatrughan Sinha calmly asked for Zaheer`s name and what he did for a living. To her surprise, he then mentioned that he had already seen his name in a newspaper. Sonakshi was taken aback and wondered whether her mother had already spoken to him. She explained that she had told her mother about dating Zaheer nearly two years before and had even requested her to inform her father, but she eventually realised she had to tell him herself.
The actor also spoke about how her parents` perspective changed once they spent time with the couple. As they got to know Zaheer better and witnessed the strength of their relationship, any doubts or concerns they initially had gradually faded away.
One of the most emotional parts of the conversation came when Shatrughan Sinha asked his daughter why she had waited so long to share the news with him. His words left Sonakshi emotional, as she realised she had been carrying the fear of his reaction for years. Looking back, she described it as a heartfelt moment that strengthened their bond and reaffirmed her family`s support for her relationship with Zaheer, making the journey to their wedding even more meaningful.
