Aamir Khan is poised for a significant big-screen comeback, and the buzz around his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has reached fever pitch with the trailer`s release. Dropped on Tuesday evening (May 13), the trailer offers a compelling glimpse into what promises to be a "heartwarming family entertainer," with actor Riteish Deshmukh already lauding it as "extraordinary".
Aamir himself described Gulshan in a fan interaction, saying, "My character, Nikumbh, in Taare Zameen Par was a very sensitive person. In this film, my character’s name is Gulshan, but his personality is exactly the opposite of Nikumbh. He is very rude, politically incorrect, and he insults everybody." This sets the stage for a profound character arc, as Gulshan initially describes the team members as “pagal” but is expected to undergo a significant transformation.
While the film is titled Sitaare Zameen Par, with `Sitaare` being the team`s name, the narrative appears to centre on the coach`s redemption. The film champions the idea that "the idea of normalcy isn’t the same for everyone." It`s described as a spiritual sequel to the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, but Aamir clarifies, "Thematically, it is going ten steps ahead... Taare Zameen Par made you cry but this film will make you laugh. It’s a comedy, but the theme is the same.” The movie is an adaptation of the Spanish film Champions (2018).
