Mumbai’s Bollywood buzz took a serious turn this week after superstar Ranveer Singh received a disturbing threat via WhatsApp, forcing him and wife Deepika Padukone to tighten security around their home.
According to reports, the threat came in the form of a voice note sent to Ranveer’s phone on Tuesday evening, in which the sender allegedly demanded crores of rupees from the actor.
The chilling message was immediately reported to the Mumbai Police, who launched an investigation and stepped up protection at the couple’s residence in central Mumbai.
Security beefed up around Ranveer Singh`s home
In an official move to ensure the safety of the family, Ranveer and Deepika deployed additional armed security personnel outside their building.

An official letter from the housing complex to the Dadar Police Station revealed that six armed guards - plus a uniformed police officer - have been stationed at the premises to guard the actors round the clock.
However, the presence of armed guards patrolling common areas such as the lobby, gym and children’s play area has raised concerns among other residents.
In a letter to police, the society’s managing committee expressed its “serious concern” about the security arrangements and sought clarification over whether proper permissions were obtained.
The Context: Rising threats in Bollywood
This incident follows closely on the heels of a firing outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence, which authorities are still probing.
Some police sources suspect the threat to Ranveer may be linked to similar criminal elements, possibly hinting at a broader pattern of extortion attempts against high-profile film personalities.
For now, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch is tracing the digital origin of the WhatsApp voice note in an attempt to identify and apprehend the sender.
