The trailer for Animal shows Ranbir embodying a violent character who indulges in a lot of bloodshed owing to the complexities in his mind. The film is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is known for his violence in his films. He takes it to all-time new heights with Animal.

At the trailer launch of the film, Ranbir Kapoor revealed how he had to disconnect from his character as he went home after the shoot with his daughter Raha. He said, "The switching on and switching off part was very important because when I was starting Animal, I became a father. Raha was born. I was going on set doing all these things, and going home and seeing my daughter was surreal."

Further, he spoke more about his character and how Animal offered him something that he had never done before. He said,I wouldn't use the word dark it is the most complex character I have ever played. People usually see me in a different waymdashas a boy next door, a good boy, etc.

Further, he said, "I don't know what he (director Sandeep Reddy Vanga) saw in me when he offered me this part, but he has given so many layers to this character and every character. He writes for everyone and gives them a character. He gives them a plethora of emotions and complexities. That is very exciting to portray."

Ranbir even said that he needed references to play his character, as he just didn't know how to tap into those complex places that he had never been to. He would ask Sandeep Reddy Vanga for references that would help him reach the depths of his character.

He also spoke of how doing the role reminded him of his own father, the late Rishi Kapoor. Animal is the story of a father-son relationship that takes a violent turn.

Ranbir said, "Subconsciously, I thought of my father. The way he used to speak, he was a very passionate and aggressive man."

After the release of the trailer, fans have reacted to Ranbir's acting in the film and just cannot wait to catch it on its first day in theaters.
