Rajkummar Rao is back, and this time he`s diving deep into the dark abyss of the underworld. The recently dropped teaser for his upcoming film, ‘Maalik’, has sent ripples across the internet, showcasing Rao in a menacing, never-seen-before avatar. Directed by Pulkit, this gangster drama, set in the gritty backdrop of 1988 Allahabad, promises a visceral journey into a world governed by blood, power, and fear.
The teaser, released by Tips on X and shared by Rajkummar Rao on his Instagram, wastes no time in establishing its intense and brutal tone. Rao’s character, ‘Maalik’, is portrayed with cold stares and a chilling demeanour, dominating every frame. The actor himself captioned his post with the compelling line, “Paida nahin hue toh kya, ban toh sakte hai!! Teaser out now. #Maalik ko milne aa jaana 11 July ko sirf cinema gharon main!”
Opening with Rajkummar`s character waking up rifle in hand, the teaser quickly escalates. Viewers witness him ruthlessly murder a man with a spade, blood splattering across him, before setting the body ablaze with firecrackers. He chillingly declares, “Maalik paida nahi hue to kya, ban to sakte hai (It doesn`t matter if we weren`t born a master; we can become one”). The teaser further establishes the grim reality of this world with the voiceover: "There are two types of people in society. One who sweat to earn their bread, and the other who sweat and bleed to snatch their due." Guns blaze and bodies fall as Maalik carves his legend from the shadows, unfazed by the carnage around him.
