Veteran actor Dharmendra dies at 89
Veteran actor and Bollywood legend Dharmendra passes away at 89 on Monday after being in a critical condition. He was put on ventilator support after he was admitted to the hospital for a routine checkup. However, the was discharged after doctors gave a positive nod for his health.
A statement was released by his team right after he was admitted to the hospital, mentioning there was nothing to worry about. The team said, "They requested privacy at this time. He`s under observation, but there`s nothing to worry about."
On November 10, Dharmendra`s wife and actress, Hema Malini, also tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) and shared his health update.
It read, "I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. (folded hand emoji) I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery."
What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.

Many Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, and Salman Khan, visited the hospital amid concerns about the veteran actor`s health.
What happened to Dharmendra?
Till this afternoon, he was in stable health. The 89-year-old actor`s team assured that he was recovering and is in a stable condition. He was kept under observation for a few days.
Earlier in October, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani actor was admitted to the hospital to undergo regular checkups. Things weren`t looking good and he was kept on a life-support.

However, the doctors at Breach Candy Hospital assured Dharmendra`s recovery and also gave a positive nod after he was discharged on November 12.
His team said, "Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further comments and updates will be shared as available. Request everyone to pray for his speedy recovery and respect the family’s right to privacy."
His team told India Today, “He undergoes a series of tests periodically given his age and is in the hospital for the same. Someone may have spotted him and created a news piece. He is absolutely fine, and there’s nothing to be worried about.”
Dharmendra passes away at 89
On November 24, fresh reports of him facing health issues surfaced again. On Monday afternoon, an ambulance was seen arriving at the Deol residence, where the veteran actor was being treated in the care of his family.
The Deol family is yet to share an official update on the same. Previously, amid the ongoing false reports of Dharmendra`s pasisng, Hema Malini and Esha Deol slammed the media for spreading misleading information and assured the actor is recovering well.

The security has tightened at Mumbai`s Pawan Hans crematorium, leading to rising concerns among fans about Dharmendra`s health. Esha was also seen arriving at the cremaotrium.
On the work front
Dharmendra, who would have turned 90 on December 8, stayed active on-screen even at this age. His magnetic presence and impeccable performances added depth to even an ordinary story.
He was last seen in the Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024). His chemistry with Shabana Azmi in Karan Johar`s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also made fans swoon over his charm.
His last project as an actor will be Ikkis, co-starring Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat. Helmed by Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis will see a theatrical release in December 2025.
