Dulqueer Salmaan starrer Kaantha teaser out
The makers of Kaantha have finally unveiled its much-awaited teaser, and it’s every bit as gripping as fans expected. Released as a special treat on Dulquer Salmaan’s birthday, the teaser offers a mesmerizing glimpse into a world driven by art, ambition, and fractured loyalties.
Set in the nostalgic backdrop of 1950s Madras, the upcoming Malayalam film is a period drama directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. The film is co-produced by Dulquer’s Wayfarer Films and Rana Daggubati’s Spirit Media, and it is slated for a grand theatrical release on September 12.
The story explores the delicate balance between art and ego, weaving a narrative of two iconic personalities – Chandran and Ayya. Chandran, once a prodigious student, and Ayya, a visionary filmmaker, shared a deep bond founded on creativity and mutual respect.
However, as ambition grows, so does the rift. Friendship gives way to rivalry when personal pride overshadows loyalty.

The conflict intensifies when Ayya embarks on creating Shaantha, a women-centric masterpiece. Determined to cement his own legacy, Chandran, now a towering figure in the industry, seizes control of the project. He renames it Kaantha and twists its original essence, sparking a storm of betrayal and shattered trust.
Dulquer Salmaan shines as Chandran, delivering a layered performance that captures the turmoil of a man torn between admiration and insecurity. Samuthirakani, as Ayya, lends gravitas to the role of a filmmaker caught in the crossfire of loyalty and deception. Newcomer Bhagyashri Borse also impresses in a pivotal role.
Visually, Kaantha is a treat. Tha. Ramalingam’s meticulous art direction recreates the golden era of Madras, while Dani Sanchez Lopez’s evocative cinematography immerses viewers in its timeless charm.
Adding to the haunting intensity is Jhanu Chanthar’s atmospheric background score, which stays with you long after the teaser ends.
With its intricate characters, dramatic premise, and stunning visuals, Kaantha promises to be more than just a historical drama. It’s a powerful exploration of friendship, betrayal, and the cost of artistic pride—a story that will resonate long after the curtains fall.
