Yet another nepotistic product to the Hindi film industry, Varun Dhawan has paved his way to becoming one of the finest, most talented actors in Bollywood. While he has given some spectacular performances, Varun is still considered to live off his privileges as he comes from an influential film family. However, the actor shared an incident when his father gave him a reality check of why succeeding on one's own merit is important.

Varun Dhawan turns 36 today. On his birthday, let's share a little anecdote on how the actor realized being a nepotistic kid doesn't mean everything will be served on a silver platter to him. The JugJugg Jeeyo actor shared an incident from his school days.

Varun Dhawan Opens Up On Being A Nepo Kid

Varun recalled wanting to go to his dream school but when the results came, he couldn't get through. That's when the star kid asked his father-director David Dhawan to make a call to get him in.

In an interview dating back to 2018, the Badlapur actor said, "I remember this time I was in the 10th standard when the Dhirubhai Ambani school had just opened and a lot of my friends were applying for admission. I remember telling [dad], I want to apply for this, can you make a call? The results came, and I didn't get in. I asked him, did you make the call? He said no. You weren't supposed to get it.'

Varun Dhawan has given us some spell-bound performances in movies like October, Badlapur, JugJugg Jeeyo, and more. He made his debut in Karan Johar's Student Of The Year in 2012. The movie also marked Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra's first film.

Though he wasn't launched by his father-director David Dhawan, the two went on to work on movies like Mai Tera Hero (2014), Judwaa 2 (2017), and Coolie No. 1 (2020).

On The Work Front

Varun Dhawan will be seen next in Nitesh Tiwari's Bawal alongside Janhvi Kapoor. He also has an Indian adaptation of Citadel. Helmed by Raj and DK, the spy thriller series will also star Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead. Apart from this, Varun will reunite with his Bhediya co-star Kriti Sanon for the sequel of the same.
