Harry Potter HBO Series Cast
The magical world of Hogwarts is set to enchant a new generation as HBO officially announces the lead trio for its much-anticipated Harry Potter TV series. After an extensive global search, the roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley have been cast, bringing fresh faces to iconic characters.
Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer and director Mark Mylod expressed their excitement in a joint statement: “After an extraordinary search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are delighted to announce we have found our Harry, Hermione and Ron. The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we cannot wait for the world to witness their magic together onscreen. We would like to thank all the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It’s been a real pleasure to discover the plethora of young talent out there.”
Just as the original Harry Potter films propelled Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint to global stardom, this HBO series is poised to do the same for McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout, who are largely newcomers. McLaughlin has an upcoming role in the comedy “Grow”, while Stanton previously starred as Matilda in “Matilda: The Musical” on the West End. Harry Potter marks Stout’s first major role.
They join an already impressive ensemble cast, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.

Regarding concerns over author J.K. Rowling’s controversial views, HBO’s chief content officer Casey Bloys recently stated on “The Town” podcast, "It’s pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She’s entitled to them. ‘Harry Potter’ is not secretly being infused with anything. And if you want to debate her, you can go on Twitter."
With the cast now in place, anticipation for the new Harry Potter series continues to build, promising a fresh adaptation of the beloved magical saga.
