Divya Dutta`s Telugu debut in Mayasabha
After leaving a mark in Bollywood, Divya Dutta is now all set to make her Telugu debut with Dev Katta`s directorial web series, Mayasabha. The political drama will see the actress play a pivotal role along with Aadhi Pinisetty and Chaitanya Rao.
2024 and 2025 have been fantastic in terms of work for Divya. Her performance as Soyarabai in Vicky Kaushal`s highest grosser, Chhava, was highly lauded. She left a big impact despite minimal screen time.
“I knew Chhaava would do well, but the euphoria it received was heartening,” said the actor and added, “2024 and 2025 have been such great years for me work-wise. Now I’m even debuting in Telugu.”

Mayasabha is set against the backdrop of the 70s and 80s era as it explores dynamics between two rival politicians, Krishnama Naidu and Rami Reddy, played by Aadhi and Chaitanya, respectively.
Divya plays the role of Iravati Basu, a badass leader who commands respect in a world dominated by men.

Talking about what enticed her to do the part, she said, “I believe this role is absolutely apt to begin my innings in Telugu. What`s better than to play a woman in politics who holds her own while facing off men?”
“I was immediately drawn to the way Deva Katta narrated Mayasabha to me. It’s lovely as an actor when you get to tap into nuances and play with layers in any character. Everything from the way she exchanges looks to the way she stands her own has been fleshed out so well; it was a ball to play her,” Divya Dutta added.
Divya Dutta`s love for South Indian movies
The Sharmajee Ki Beti actress has been a big South Indian movie buff and recalled how she`d whistle every time Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth made a heroic entry on the big screen.
She expressed her excitement and shared, “I’ve grown up watching South films and whistling when Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth comes on-screen. Deva Katta has told me he’ll bring me to Hyderabad, and I’m already doing a Hindi film produced by Rana Daggubati. I’ve already put my footsteps here and would love to belong because the South is coming out with such amazing projects. The grandeur in their films is something else.”
Helmed by Dev Katta, Mayasabha is now streaming on SonyLIV.
