Deepika Padukone to Play Suhana Khan’s Mother in SRK’s Upcoming Film King

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, one of Bollywood`s most beloved pairs, are teaming up again for the highly anticipated action thriller `King`. From their unforgettable debut in `Om Shanti Om` to blockbusters like `Chennai Express`, `Pathaan`, and `Jawan`, their on-screen magic is undeniable. Now, they`re adding another chapter to their shared filmography with this exciting new project directed by Siddharth Anand.
Despite it being a cameo, her character is crucial to the film`s narrative. "Her character is integral to the plot and serves as the primary conflict in the storyline," a report revealed. It also highlighted the enthusiasm behind her casting: "Both Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand were keen on casting Deepika for this special character, and she enthusiastically accepted the offer despite it not being a full-fledged lead role."

Helmed by Siddharth Anand, known for high-octane action spectacles, `King` is described as a gritty revenge thriller. Shah Rukh Khan reportedly plays a deadly assassin who takes a young girl, portrayed by Suhana Khan, under his wing.
The project saw a shift in direction after Sujoy Ghosh`s departure, evolving into a full-scale SRK action entertainer under Anand. The film boasts a strong supporting cast, including Abhishek Bachchan reportedly playing the main villain and `Munjya` star Abhay Verma in an important role. With pre-production in full swing, `King` is currently targeting a grand theatrical release in late 2026.
