Deepika Padukone Talks About Motherhood, Pregnancy Complications, And Naming Dua

Deepika recalled texting Ranveer late one night while he was on set: "Dua? He said yes, and that was it."

Deepika`s pregnancy journey, while beautiful, was not without its difficulties. At 38, she faced intense public scrutiny, including baseless rumours about surrogacy and faking her pregnancy. Beyond the mental toll, Deepika revealed she also experienced physical complications. "I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant and delivery," she shared, mentioning challenges in the last two months and pain in her spine. Throughout this time, the support of her family and friends was her strength.
After Dua`s arrival, Deepika remarked that her "centre has shifted", a sentiment many new mothers can relate to. She also shared that Ranveer had encouraged her to take the lead on when to start a family, saying, "He was like, `It`s your body. Yes, it`s a together decision, but eventually it`s your body that`s going to go through it. So whenever you feel ready.`"

She also recounted an incident where a director seemed to question her commitment when she prioritised being with her daughter over a meeting. "He retorted and said, `Oh, it seems that you are taking motherhood very seriously.`" Deepika recalled, firmly stating her disagreement with his sentiment.
While official announcements are pending for some projects like `King` with Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan, Deepika is reportedly set to begin work on the sequel to `Kalki 2898 AD`. As she embraces this new phase, it`s clear that Deepika Padukone is navigating motherhood with grace, strength, and a renewed sense of purpose.
