In a recent notable show of solidarity, acclaimed actress Anushka Sharma has publicly agreed with a sentiment that positions soldiers, not celebrities, as the true heroes of the nation.
Prior to this, Anushka Sharma had taken to her Instagram Story to express her profound appreciation for the armed forces during the period of escalating tensions. She penned a heartfelt message, saying, “Eternally grateful to our Indian Armed Forces for protecting us through these times like the heroes that they are. Heartfelt gratitude to the sacrifices they and their families have made. Jai Hind." Her husband, Virat Kohli, also utilized the platform to convey his gratitude to the nation`s protectors.
Recalling that challenging period in a 2012 interview with ETimes, Anushka shared, “Kargil was a tough one. I was too young at that time, but I was scared of seeing my mother. She would always have the news channel switched on throughout the day and would get upset when casualties were announced." She further emphasised her deep-seated pride, stating, “I take pride in saying that I am an army officer’s daughter even more than being an actor."

She is the daughter of Colonel (retired) Ajay Kumar Sharma, a veteran who has served in significant conflicts since 1982, including Operation Bluestar and the Kargil War.
