Vaani Kapoor replaces Ileana D`Cruz in Raid 2
One of the most anticipated movies of the year, the Raid 2 trailer is finally out, and fans wonder why Vaani Kapoor has replaced Ileana D`Cruz as the leading lady. For the uninitiated, Ileana played Ajay Devgn`s wife in the first instalment. Vaani will be stepping into the same role in the second part.
With media hyping every little thing going on in the film industry, many were quick enough to assume a rivalry between Vaani Kapoor and Ileana D`Cruz. However, at the trailer launch, the former rubbished the rumours, while Ajay Devgn revealed the real reason for new members coming in the cast of Raid 2.
When he was asked about his character`s new wife in the upcoming political drama, Ajay explained, "You see it in a lot of Hollywood films as well. Still, Sean Connery is not the only James Bond. It’s the character you follow, and then new people keep coming in.”
Meanwhile, Vaani opened up on her off-screen equation with the new mama in town and said there`s no tension between the two actresses.
“No jealousy with the previous one. We share a great equation off-screen. You just try to play your part most authentically and follow the brief of the director and writer. This film showcases a different side of me. It felt new and refreshing,” she said.

The upcoming political drama is the sequel to the 2018 release, Raid. It starred Ajay Devgn, Saurabh Shukla, and Ileana D`Cruz in leading roles. Ajay, who played an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer named Amey Patnaik, reprises his role in the second instalment.

Raid 2 has a new ensemble of stellar actors like Riteish Deshmukh as politician Dada Bhai, Vaani Kapoor as Patnaik`s wife, and Supriya Pathak as Dada Bhai`s mother.
The film will bring back Saurabh Shukla as politician Rameshwar Singh. It also features Rajat Kapoor and Amit Sial in prominent roles.
Raid 2 is inspired by the real-life events of India`s longest income tax raid. This time, Amey Patnaik, who has caught over 4200 crore in raids, aims to take down Dada Bhai in his 75th mission.
Helmed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 will release on May 1 in cinemas near you.
