Noted for its unique blend of conventional Thrash and Groove Metal with a large dose of traditional Kerala folk music elements, The Down Troddence is a six-piece band formed in 2009. Fronted by Munz, the band comprises of Varun Raj, Advaith Mohan, Nezer Ahemed, Ganesh Radhakrishnan and Sushin Shyam.
All set for their upcoming performance in Egypt, we catch up with Munz for a tete-à-tete. Check it out...
Q. Could you tell us about your upcoming performance in Cairo?
This is our debut international gig. We are headlining the middle east finals of the wacken metal battle. Really excited about it.
Q. Was it difficult to find like-minded musicians to put together a band like yours?
It was difficult. But, now we are in a great chemistry though each member of the band has individual musical influences, as a band we think similar.
Q. What would you say is the USP of your music?
The sound that we produce is original, which makes it our USP.
Q. The Down Troddence&39;s greatest triumph?
It was a dream come true moment for us when we released our debut album.
Q. Not many survive in this industry, why is that?
It&39;s not a new thing happening only in India, it&39;s happening everywhere. Forming a band and playing for couple of years is not big deal but sustaining it for 15 -20 years is very tough, that is why bands like Kryptos and Demonic Resurrection has the best loyal fans.
Q. How do you propose to make the current indie scene better?
Good venues can help make the scene grow.
Q. Is the band currently working on any project?
We are working on couple of new songs.
Q. Radio City recently launched a dedicated web radio channel for Metal music. Your views on that?
Awesome! We need more stuff like these.
