Making digital platforms her playground, Sanya Malhotra is exploring another role after the acclaim she garnered from her last offering, Pagglait. The actor is now gearing up for Netflix's Meenakshi Sundareshwar, which also marks Abhimanyu Dassani's debut in digital entertainment.
Set in Madurai in Tamil Nadu, the Vivek Soni directorial venture revolves around a young couple battling the trials and tribulations of a long-distance relationship. 'I've always looked for characters that are unique, which gives me the opportunity to experiment with my craft,' says Malhotra, adding that the story of the film is close to her heart. Dassani, who broke into the scene with Vasan Bala's Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota (2018) hopes to imbibe the attributes of his character in real-life. 'I feel they make me a better person. Trying to learn and understand a culture different from mine helped me open up to new worlds and expand my horizons,' he says.
In a time, where dating apps dictate connections, Malhotra asserts that 'patience' is a key ingredient for the survival of any relationship. 'It's good if both the parties have patience. [The relationship] is a tough one, but is special in its own way,' the actor says, adding, 'People in long-distance relationships or marriages will be able to relate with both the characters.'
