Amazon Prime Video Announces 41 New Shows, Partners With Yash Raj, Dharma, Excle Movies And More

On Thursday, Amazon Prime Video unveiled its roadmap to convey what they have in store for us in terms of more content. Now, if you're a serial binger, we'd suggest you sit down with a book and pen to note down what all you need to add to your binge-list.

Amazon Prime Video introduced 41 new shows, announcing their first collaboration with some of the big names of the film industry. These shows are not confinign to Bollywood but also have collaborated with content from the south.

From Dharma productions to Excel Media, the streaming platform roped in best of the storytellers. Amongst these 41 shows, some of them mark many Bollywood actor's OTT debut. From Shahid Kapoor to Sonakshi Sinha, you're definitly in for a sweet treat.

Attended by an array of film fraternity like Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Kalki Koechlin, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sonakshi Sinha, Raj and DK, - the entire slate was announced during the event hosted by Karan Johar. From Vidya Balan lead Neeyat, Shahid Kapoor's thriller web series Farzi, Maja Maa starring Madhuri Dixit, and more - all these shows are spread over a period of 24 months.


Prime Video's VP International Keey Day said it is their aim to invest twice as much as they did in the last five years, calling India one of the most strategic entertainment markets.

"Our Indian Originals are doing well. We are uniquely positioned to bring local content we are producing. We are excited, it's just the beginning. Over the next five years our plan is to double the investment," without giving out much details.

Accoridng to James Farell, Head of Local Originals, Indian content is also consumed internationally. "Customers outside watch Indian content. I watched Shershaah in the US. Not just the shows but the ideas are also travelling," he said.
