Supplements You May Not Need
Multivitamins for the Healthy
If you eat a balanced diet, a daily multivitamin may do little to improve your health and might even lead to excessive nutrient intake.
High-Dose Vitamin C
Extra vitamin C won`t prevent colds. Your body excretes what it doesn’t need, so high doses just pass through without extra benefit.
Biotin for Hair & Nails
Unless you’re deficient, biotin supplements don’t boost hair or nail growth significantly. A nutrient-rich diet works better long-term.
Excessive Vitamin B12
Most people get enough B12 from food. Taking high doses without a deficiency may offer no added energy or cognitive benefits.
Iron Without Testing
Taking iron when you’re not deficient can lead to constipation and other side effects. Always test levels before supplementing.
Calcium Pills for Bones
Dietary calcium from food is often better absorbed. Too much from supplements may even increase certain health risks.
Omega-3 for Everyone
Fish oil isn’t needed if you regularly eat fatty fish. Unnecessary use may not improve heart health and could interact with medications.
