The band has also collaborated with international artistes including German Rock outfit Raggabund.
The bands compositions feature satirical lyrics which highlight social commentary.
They launched their self-titled debut album in 2016 at the flood-affected Mudichur in Tamil Nadu.
Their band name in Tamil means, for the people.
Their journey began in Kotturpuram. Instead of performing at regular venues, they chose to perform at open spaces along the route from Chennai to Puducherry, to reach out to their audiences.
Oorka, a Rock outfit based from Chennai has been active in the indie scene since 2014. Their line-up comprises of Bharath Sankar on Vocals and Keyboard, J.C on Guitar, Pradeep Kumar on Bass and Tapass Naresh on Drums. Known for their tracks ‘Peraasai’, ‘Kovakkara Kuyile’ and ‘Kaliyugam, Oorka is all-set to perform at the first Radio City Freedom Concert in Chennai on Feb 8th, 2017.
