1. Ranveer Singh: The Undercover Agent
In the film, Ranveer Singh leads the action as an undercover agent/RAW operative. Early speculation linked his character to Major Mohit Sharma — the Ashok Chakra –winning soldier who infiltrated militant networks.However, the film’s director Aditya Dhar officially clarified that Dhurandhar is not based on Major Sharma’s life.
2. Akshaye Khanna: Rehman Dakait
Khanna plays Rehman Dakait — a notorious Karachi gangster turned political figure - a cold, ruthless, and sharp menace.Dakait (real name Sardar Abdul Rehman Baloch) grew from street crime to forming the “People’s Aman Committee”, accused of running criminal rackets under political patronage.
3. Sanjay Dutt: SP Chaudhry Aslam
Sanjay Dutt steps into the shoes of Chaudhry Aslam Khan — the legendary Lyari cop and encounter-specialist known for battling Karachi’s underworld.Aslam led the Lyari Task Force and the CID’s Investigation Wing, known for high-stakes operations against gangs and militants — often under fire, both literally and politically.

Madhavan plays Ajay Sanyal — a top-tier intelligence officer in India’s spy universe. Many fans and media draw parallels between Sanyal and real-life Ajit Doval (India’s National Security Advisor), noting similar aura, demeanour, and role as strategic mastermind.
