For her millions of fans worldwide Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the symbol of a perfect woman. With her style quotient down pat and coupled with a personal life that she is fiercely protective about and a career that most individuals envy, Ash has definitely proved the she is destinys child.
In the months ahead, Ash has a kitty of big films. Her next big release is Mani Ratnams Raavan which has her as the lead actress in both the Hindi and Tamil version. She also has Vipul Shahs Action Replay with Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansalis Guzaarish with Hrithik Roshan and her big Tamil venture Endhiran with Rajnikanth.
A big feather in Ashs cap is also her constant appearance at the Cannes Film Festival as the international face of LOreal. The actress is a regular feature on the red carpet in the French Riveira and is the toast of the cameras every year. In fact she also has the honour to be the first Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes.
Aishwarya is also arguably the only Bollywood actress who has created a name for herself in Hollywood thanks to roles in crossover as well as all out Hollywood productions. She starred in the highly popular Bride and Prejudice by Gurinder Chadha as well as Pink Panther most recently to much acclaim.
Through the years Ash has acted in a variety of films like the love epic Devdas as well as the out and out action flick Dhoom 2. She has also taken successful dips in art house cinemas with films like Chokher Bali and Raincoat.
Ashs big call to fame came much later in Sanjay Leela Bhansalis Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam where she was paired opposite her then lover Salman Khan. The film gave her the first big hit at the Bollywood box office and also fetched her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 1999.
It was a matter of very little time during which offers for endorsements and movies began pouring in. The actress took on various brands but at the same time began pursuing a career in movies. Interestingly her cinematic debut wasnt in Bollywood but down South in Mani Ratnams Tamil film Iruvar in 1997. Ash then made her Bollywood debut opposite Bobby Deol in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. However the film bombed completely at the box office.
Aishwaryas brush with fame began very early on in life. While pursuing her studies in architecture, Rai began modelling on the side. In the 1994 Miss India contest, she won the second place behind Sushmita Sen and was crowned Miss India World. And thereafter there was no looking back for the fair skinned beauty. She left her studies mid way to compete for the Miss World pageant and all the hard work paid off as she returned home with the Miss World crown from London.
