Know cardiac arrest signs, act fast
Know the signs
Cardiac arrest is life-threatening in which the heart suddenly stops pumping effectively. Recognising it quickly can give someone a chance of survival.
Sudden collapse
One of the clearest signs is a person suddenly collapsing or losing consciousness. They may fall without warning and fail to respond when spoken to.
No reponse
If they don`t respond, treat it as an emergency and act immediately by calling the hospital.
Notice their breathing
A person in cardiac arrest may stop breathing or have abnormal breathing. Gasping is not normal breathing and should not be mistaken for recovery.
Time for an immediate CPR
Begin chest compressions if someone is unresponsive & breathing abnormally. Push hard & fast in the centre of the chest at 100–120 compressions per minute.
Hands-only CPR can help
If you aren`t confident giving rescue breaths, Hands-Only CPR is an important option: call emergency services & keep pushing hard & fast in the centre of chest.
Every second matters
Cardiac arrest demands immediate action. Recognise, Call, CPR, AED. Acting quickly can make a critical difference while professional medical help is on its way.
