Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior Trailer celebrates the pride and valour of Maratha bravery with grandeur

- Vijayalakshmi Narayanan

Seldom has Bollywood reserved authenticity and scaling for period films with the respectability and credibility that the genre deserves. However, the trailer of the upcoming 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' promises a welcome change. After engaging fans with exciting first looks and posters of the film, producer-actor Ajay Devgn and the team unveiled the trailer of the much anticipated film, earlier this afternoon, and the film is nothing short than spectacular.Tracing the story of Tanaji Malusare, the brave Maratha general who fought under Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj's army and seized the fort of Kondhana present day Sinhagad from the Mughals, Ajay plays the titular role, displaying the valour and bravery of Maratha pride with elan. Facing him off with equal menace is Saif Ali Khan as Udaybhan Singh Rathod, a Rajput general in Aurangzeb's Mughal regiment, who looks eccentric and electrifying in equal measure. 'Tanhaji' is also the fourth film that brings both the actors together after 'Kachche Dhaage', 'LOC: Kargil', and 'Omkara'. Kajol is also seen in a pivotal role as Tanaji's wife Savitribai. The cast also features Sharad Kelkar as Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Luke Kenny as Aurangzeb and Padmavati Rao as Jijabai, each appropriately cast to their assigned parts.Directed by debutant Om Raut, who won the Filmfare Award for his maiden debut Marathi film, 'Lokmanya Ek Yug Purush', the production design of the film is courtesy the National Award winning team of Sriram Iyengar and Sujeet Sawant, who earlier worked on 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Manikarnika'. Ajay-Atul, Sachet-Parampara and Mehul Vyas have composed the music of the film while the story, screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Prakash Kapadia, who has earlier worked with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Padmaavat'.With a dream team put together, we can't wait to see what magic is woven on our screens on January 10, 2020. Additional joy is that the film can be viewed in 3D.
