Initially, when glimpses of Akshay Kumar's-sari-clad transgender avatar from his upcoming film, 'Laxxmi Bomb' did the rounds on social media, fans eagerly awaited its trailer, hoping it to be an out-and-out horror-thriller. Little did they know that there were generous doses of comedy waiting to be served.On Friday morning, the makers dropped the trailer of 'Laxxmi Bomb', directed by Raghava Lawrence that also stars Kiara Advani, alongside Kumar.Within hours of its release, the trailer has crossed over five lakh views. However, the statistics on the like and dislike icons have been disabled to avoid social media outrage. Following the unfortunate death of Sushant Singh Rajput and the growing backlash against the Hindi film industry, fans have relentlessly disliked trailers of several Hindi films releasing digitally. 'Sadak 2', starring Alia Bhatt, became the third most disliked trailer across YouTube worldwide. The release of 'Khaali Peeli' starring Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday was barely noticed following the trailer being disliked and the criticism surrounding the 'Beyonce Sharma Jaayegi' song. In such situations, it seems to be a conscious effort on the part of the makers to avoid the film's prospects from being endangered by social media vitriol.A remake of the Tamil film, 'Kanchana' which saw the director Raghava Lawrence play the titular role, 'Laxxmi Bomb' is slated for a Diwali release on Disney+Hotstar from November 9, 2020 onwards.Watch the trailer below:
