Actor Vijay Verma of ‘Pink’ and ‘Gully Boy’ fame, who was recently seen in a double role in the second season of ‘Mirzapur’, spoke to Parag Chhapekar in an interview for Radio City, where the actor expressed how the prospect of playing a double role got him excited.
“Every actor aspires to do a double role. When opportunity presented itself before me, I jumped at it without a second thought. It’s quite a technical process to essay a double role. I learnt so while shooting for Mirzapur.”
What was the challenge for him while playing twin brothers Shatrughan and Bharat Tyagi?
“The challenge was to be able to differentiate between the two. Because everything about their appearances, from their looks to their dressing was the same. How can one tell one from the other? That was an interesting challenge for me. So, I explored how the two can differ in terms of their aspirations, their behavior and their reactions”
While fans have already picked their favourite characters from the first season of the show, many have showered immense praise and love for Verma for his effortless performance as the twin brothers who look the same but differ with reference to their perspectives. While the elder brother Bharat is an aspiring politician, Shatrughan is a hopeless romantic who succumbs to the charms of Golu’s character, played by Shweta Tripathi.
The actor will be next seen in ‘Hurdang’ alongwith Sunny Kaushal and Nushrat Bharucha and in Reema Kagti’s web show ‘Fallen’ alongwith Sonakshi Sinha, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah.
