The Archies has given everyone a lot to cherish in terms of its innovative storytelling as well as the new actors who made their debut with the film. From Suhana Khan to Khushi Kapoor, they finally made their debut in films after being all over social media over the past couple of years. Recently, Zoya Akhtar revealed that Agastya Nanda specifically didn't want to act in the film.

Reasons why Agastya didn't want to act in the film

Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, was away from the world of acting. But Zoya Akhtar was insistent on him doing the role. She revealed, "Everyone knew it's an ensemble cast of seven characters. Every character has a beginning, middle, and end. They know what to accept. Agastya, Suhana, and others were all auditioned. We wanted the characters in the age group of 17 years."

She further added, "Agastya didn't want to act. He is into business, but we tested him, and he came for an audition."

Zoya Akhtar also revealed the reason for casting newcomers in the film. She said, "Because these comic characters are iconic, fresh and new faces were ideal to be cast. If you take any star, they would come with baggage, so we wanted fresh new actors so they looked believable. Hence, we cast newcomers their energy and excitement are contagious."

The Archies also stars Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi 'Dot' Saigal, and Yuvraj Menda as important characters from the comic on which it is based. Right since the release of the film on Netflix, it has been getting a lot of love from everywhere. Katrina Kaif took to social media to praise all the newcomers.

Zoya also expressed how she always shows whatever she makes to her father, Javed Akhtar, and brother, Farhan Akhtar. She believes in them giving her honest feedback about her work all the time.

Zoya Akhtar had a glorious 2023 with the release of three of her works from the web-shows Dahaad and Made in Heaven Season 2 to The Archies. Moving on, she has yet another project before the year ends as a writer and producer, which is a Netflix film starring Ananya Panday, Adarsh Gourav, Siddhant Chatruvedi, and Kho Gaye Ham Kahan.

It is scheduled to be released exclusively on Netflix on December 26.
