When Rekha-Amitabh Bachchan`s love-making scenes left Jaya Bachchan heartbroken
Bollywood affairs are something that never go off the internet. Even when there was no internet, these news somehow found their way to the masses. One such controversy that took the nation by storm was Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan`s rumoured affair.
Amitabh Bachchan`s name was linked with many yesteryear actresses such as Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi, and Smita Patil. But one name that continues to draw massive headlines is Rekha.
While Big B always remained tight-lipped about this matter, Rekha has never shied away from expressing her admiration for him. In one of her old interviews, she recalled seeing an inconsolably crying Jaya Bachchan during the screening of one of their movies, and the reason is shocking.
Rekha recalls Jaya Bachchan breaking down
The veteran actress`s old interview has been resurfacing where she recalled Jaya breaking down during the screening of Big B`s film, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. This was after she saw the rumoured couple`s intimate scenes.
In a throwback interview with Stardust, the Umrao Jaan actress recalled, “Once, I was looking at the whole (Bachchan) family through the projection room when they came to see the trial show of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Jaya was sitting in the front row, and he (Amitabh) and his parents were in the row behind her. They couldn’t see her as clearly as I could. And during our love scenes, I could see tears pouring down her face."
Following the screening, Rekha revealed that rumours of Amitabh Bachchan not wanting to work with her started floating across the industry.
She added, “A week later, everybody in the industry was telling me that he had made it clear to his producers that he was not going to work with me.”
When Jaya Bachchan decided to cut ties with Rekha
Reports even suggested that the Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham actress once decided to distance herself from her Silsila co-star amid all the controversies and rumours. This even deteriorated their friendship.

Rekha dismissed these rumours in an interview with Simi Garewal and said, “Didibhai (Jaya) is much more mature, much more together. I’ve yet to come across a woman who is so together. She’s got so much dignity, so much class. She’s got a lot of strength. I admire that woman."
"We had an association before the so-called rumours, and the media messed up the whole image. We were living in the same building, and we had a relationship. She was my Didibhai; she still is – no matter what happens, nobody can take that away. Thank God she realises that too,” she concluded.
Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan last collaborated in Yash Chopra`s Silsila, a romantic saga that changed the way Hindi cinema was perceived.
