As per the reports, Vikram Gokhale's mortal remains will be taken to Balgandharva Sabhagruha in Pune, where his friends and family will pay their last respects.

Who Was Vikram Gokhale

Vikram Gokhale is a veteran actor who has done iconic movies, both in Bollywood and Marathi cinema. He is best known for playing pivotal roles in Bollywood movies like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Mission Mangal, Agneepath, and more. His Marathi movie Natsamrat broke national records to become one of the most loved movies in regional cinema. The actor made his directorial debut in the 2010 release of Aaghat. Vikram Gokhale also won National Film Award for Best Actor in the movie Anumati.

Vikram Gokhale Best Movies

The veteran actor has done some phenomenal work in Hindi and Marathi cinemas. As he breathed his last, let's remember some of his best movies.

1. Agneepath - 1990

Vikram Gokhale played the role of Commissioner M. S. Gaitonde. While tough on Vijay Dinanath Chauhan (Amitabh Bachchan), he also has a soft spot for the latter. Trying to protect Vijay from all his illegal activities, Gaitonde becomes one of the impactful characters of the movie.

2. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam - 1999

Gokhale gained mass popularity post this Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie. He portrayed the role of Aishwarya Rai's music teacher and father. The song Albela Saajan Aayo Re is a classic example of how his actions can bring the entire song to life. This movie proves how a father's love comes in the form of discipline. Though he opposed Nandini (Aishwarya) and Sameer's (Salman Khan) relationship, he knew Vanraj (Ajay Devgn) would be the apt choice for his daughter.

3. Bhool Bhulaiyaa - 2007

Who doesn't remember his iconic appearance in this movie! Though for a brief time, Gokhale's role carried the psychological-thriller movie to become a Bollywood hit. Playing the character of Acharya Yagyaprakash Bharti, he was Akshay Kumar's guru and mentor. Guiding him on how to treat Vidya Balan's schizophrenia, the guru-chela duo worked wonders on-screen.

4. Natsamrat - 2015

Speaking of his illustrious Marathi cinema career, Natsamrat was a revolutionizing movie for regional movie lovers. Translated as the King Of Theatres, Vikram Gokhale was the right choice for Rambhau, a close friend of Appa (Nana Patekar). The movie revolves around how children can be ungrateful for what their parents have done for them. Though a serious topic, this is a must-watch movie for every movie buff.

5. Mission Mangal - 2018

Find us a better actor who could naturally imbibe the vibe of ISRO's director because we couldn't! Vikram Gokhale played Shrikant Bhosle, the director of the Indian Space Research Organization. Trusting Akshay Kumar and the incredible women to launch a mission to Mars, he left a huge impact on the big screen.

It is always a pleasure seeing Vikram Gokhale diving right into the character's mind and making it look relatable. He may have left us but his legacy will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, sir. You will be missed. Radio City extends heartfelt condolences to the Gokhale family.
