Veteran Tamil Actor Rajesh Dies at 75 in Chennai Due to Heart Attack
Veteran Tamil actor Rajesh passed away in Chennai on Thursday following a sudden heart attack on the morning of May 29. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. His wife, Joan Sylvia, had predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter Divya and son Deepak. Rajesh’s mortal remains have been placed at his residence in Ramapuram, Chennai, for the public to pay their last respects. His unexpected demise has left the film industry and fans in deep shock and sorrow!
Debut in 1974
For those unfamiliar, Rajesh was born on December 20, 1949, in Mannargudi, located in the Tiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu. He left his job as a school teacher to follow his passion for acting. His debut on the silver screen came in 1974 with a minor role in Aval Oru Thodarkathai, directed by K. Balachander. Over the years, he acted in more than 150 films, including notable titles like Nayak, Khalnayak, and Gunachitra. His performance in Bhagyaraj’s Andha 7 Naatkal was widely appreciated. Rajesh continued to take on impactful character roles in films such as Journey’s End, Fear Not Fear, and New Ragas, even after the year 2000.
