Veere Di Wedding Box Office Collection: Kareena-Sonam-Swara-Shikha starrer breaks the glass ceiling

Closely on the heels of Alia Bhatt’s ‘Raazi’, comes another women-led film that has registered the biggest opening weekend.
The Kareena Kapoor Khan-Sonam Kapoor-Swara Bhasker-Shikha Talsania starrer ‘Veere Di Wedding’ registered a first-ever double digit figure of 10.7 crores on day one of release. At the end of the weekend, the total clocked to 36.5 crores.
Producer Rhea Kapoor is elated over to the moon. She has gone on quote to say, “Calling the film a chick flick would put it in a bracket. At a juncture where we are trying to break away from labels, it’s high time we had a film that doesn’t judge women and at the same time is aspirational,” Rhea said in a statement to IANS.
“I am overwhelmed with response from the audience and at the box office and I hope this film breaks the glass ceiling,” she added.
‘Veere Di Wedding’ was in the waiting for over two years due to Kareena’s pregnancy and motherhood. There were speculations also suggesting that the movie was likely to be shelved due to lack of investment. But Rhea and Ekta Kapoor joined forces to give Indian women, a film that would be relatable.
The film has been directed by Shashanka Ghosh.
