Throwback: When Stylists Refuesed To Dress Vijay Varma For His Cannes Red Carpet Debut In 2013

On Tuesday, Cannes Film Festival 2023 saw the who`s who of Bollywood slaying and swaying on the red carpet. Sara Ali Khan, Urvashi Rautela, Manushi Chillar, and many more graced the film festival by putting their best foot forward. This year, many prominent Indian celebrities are on the Indian delegation panel for Cannes. One of which is Dahaad actor Vijay Varma.
Ahead of his Cannes 2023 appearance, did you know Vijay Varma already made his debut at the film festival way back in 2013? Almost a decade ago, the actor was present at the prestigious film festival as his debut movie Monsoon Shootout premiered here. However, the shocking part was when the stylists refused to dress him for the event.

This year, Vijay Varma will be a prominent part of the Cannes Film Festival representing the Indian delegation. On Wednesday, the actor took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself from the French Riveria. His caption was all about thanking his fans for showering love on his latest web series Dahaad.
Vijar said, “When I came here, I bought one jacket from Zara, which I could afford. But for the main event, for two events, they said you have to wear the whole suit. And I went to people, saying, ‘Can some designer come, can some stylist help me out?’ And they said, ‘Who’s Vijay Varma? We don’t want to dress anybody.`”
The actor said he thought he looked fine in a Zara suit and when he looks back to the pictures today, it gives him a resemblance to `Marwari Johnny Depp`.

“So, a friend of mine gifted me a Zara suit, which I wore for the morning photo call. And somebody stitched me a tuxedo for the red carpet. That`s how I went. When I saw the pictures, they came out on Getty Images and all these places, which I didn’t have money to buy from," Varma further added.

Recalling his days filled with the struggle to make a name in Bollywood, Vijay recalled how stylists refused to dress him for his Cannes debut in 2013. In a recent interview, the Darlings actor revealed how he was called `anybody random` and had to make do with a Zara suit.Vijar said, “When I came here, I bought one jacket from Zara, which I could afford.
