Thalaivar 170: Amitabh Bachchan Reunites With Rajinikanth After 3 Decades

Two towering legends from the Indian film industry are coming together for a big-screen blockbuster. Thalaivar 170, which is going to be helmed by TJ Gnanavel, is all set to begin shooting with an ensemble cast of actors. The recent news of Amitabh Bachchan joining the Rajinikanth film is surely going to be an absolute treat for the fans of both actors.
Amitabh Bachchan has joined the Thalaivar 170 along with an already powerful cast, including actors like Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Rithika Singh, and Dussara Vijayan. The film is going to mark the return of Bachchan and Rajnikanth together on screen after 3 decades. They were last seen together in the 1991 family drama Hum, which also starred Govinda and Kader Khan. At that time, Rajinikanth and Amitabh had just crowned themselves as the superstars in their respective film industries with back-to-back hits.

Rajinikanth has time and again said how he was heavily influenced by looking at Amitabh Bachchan act on the big screen. The latter`s breakthrough film, Zanjeer (1973), which put him out as the Angry Young Man, proved to be an inspiration for Rajnikanth. Later, Rajnikanth would do remakes of Bachchan`s films for the Tamil and Telugu film industries. Beginning with Shankar Salim Simon (1978), which was a remake of Bachchan`s Amar Akbar Anthony (1977). Over the years, both of them established themselves as the undisputed kings of the Indian film industry, with their films ruling at the box office.
Now, after 32 years since Hum, they will be seen together, carrying forth the years of stardom and popularity with them. It is important for Indian cinema and is surely going to appease fans all over.

Rajinikanth spotted at Trivandrum for the shoot
Rajinikanth was spotted at the Trivandrum airport to start the shooting of the film. Revealing further details about the film, Rajinikanth stated that his 170th film will be with directors Gnanavel and Lyca and that it is going to be an entertainer with a social message. Gnanavel`s last release was the Suriya starrer Jai Bhim (2021), which was very well received by audiences and critics.ADVERTISEMENT
