Taapsee Pannu reunites with Anubhav Sinha for Mulk 2
Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and actress Taapsee Pannu are reuniting for a new courtroom drama that echoes the themes of their 2018 film Mulk. While the upcoming project delves into socially relevant issues, Sinha has clarified that it is not a direct sequel, aiming instead to present a fresh narrative with a powerful message.
Mulk was a significant film in Sinha`s career, marking his shift towards socially conscious storytelling. The film, which featured Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, and Prateik Babbar, explored themes of religious intolerance and the challenges faced by a Muslim family in India.
It received critical acclaim and was nominated for several awards, including Best Film (Critics) at the Screen Awards and Best Story at the Filmfare Awards.

The new project, though not a sequel, is expected to tackle similar themes of social justice and communal harmony. Reports suggest that the film will feature a strong supporting cast, including veteran actors Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa, who have previously collaborated with Sinha on his other socially relevant films.
Fans of Sinha and Pannu are eagerly anticipating the film, with many expressing excitement over the reunion of the duo. One user commented, “Looking forward to it. The monologues at the end of Mulk—those 40 minutes or so—PEAK CINEMA.”
Another user remarked, “I loved the concept of Mulk, and I am sure this new project will be equally impactful.”
It is still unclear who will replace Rishi Kapoor in the leading role. As the film is set to begin shooting in April 2025, audiences can look forward to another thought-provoking narrative that continues Sinha`s commitment to addressing pressing social issues through cinema.
Taapsee Pannu`s upcoming projects
The actress is currently in talks to play the prominent Hindu mythological figure Gandhari, who was the wife of Dhritarashtra. The film has a modern twist to it with Taapsee playing the role of a mother who is on a mission.
Apart from that, she has also hinted at a third sequel to Haseen Dillruba. The first two installments featured Vikrant Massey in the lead.
As for Anubhav Sinha, his last directorial was IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, starring Vijay Verma and Dia Mirza in pivotal roles. He is also reportedly developing a superhero film, which is still a work in progress.
