Suhana Khan has been busy promoting her upcoming debut feature film, The Archies, directed by Zoya Akhtar. In a recent interview she gave, she spoke about Alia Bhatt and how she repeated her wedding saree in a new way for the National Awards Ceremony in Delhi.

Last month, Alia Bhatt received the National Award for Best Actress for her role in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi. During the ceremony, her fashion choice and sari caused some discussion as she decided to wear the same sari she wore for her wedding last year.

In the viral clip, Suhana Khan is seen talking highly about Alia. She said, "Alia wore her wedding saree again for the National Awards, and I think as somebody with a platform who has influence, I thought that was incredible and a much-needed message. She did that, and she took a stand towards sustainability."

Further, she explained the need to not overbuy things and said, "If Alia Bhatt can re-wear her wedding saree, then we can also repeat an outfit for a party. We don't need to buy a new outfit. We don't realize it, but making new garments creates waste, which impacts our biodiversity and environment. So, it's very important."

In the industry, wearing new outfits for every occasion is a normal thing, and it is often a matter of discussion as to who wore what at a function. In that context, Alia's decision to repurpose her wedding saree speaks volumes.

Last month, Alia shared her thoughts behind wearing the same saree. She said, "Whenever there is a big event or big moment coming up, you start preparing for it... I instinctively felt like, 'I'm going to re-wear my wedding saree'. The saree was ideated and done beautifully by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, but it was a lot of me, with a white and gold combination and certain symbols."

She added, "It was the garment I felt most myself in. And it was a really special moment for a different reason. A special outfit can be worn for a special occasion more than once."

The Archies is set to stream directly on Netflix on December 7. If reports are to be believed, she will soon be starting to shoot for her first theatrical film, directed by Sujoy Ghosh and starring Shah Rukh Khan.
