Karan Johar has taken some of the tags given to him a little too seriously. The filmmaker is now coming up with a new web series on nepotism titled Showtime, and it has already caused a stir on the internet. This will mark Karan's first ever web series as a producer.
Bringing in a stellar cast of some spectacular actors, Showtime is headlined by
Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Mouni Roy. It also stars Rajeev Khandelwal, Shriya Saran, and Vijay Raaz, among others, in prominent roles.
The filmmaker took to Instagram and shared the Showtime teaser. It looks promising and rather intriguing as the cast unveils the menacing and intimidating side of the film industry.

The upcoming web series will be made under Karan's new venture, Dharmatic Entertainment, dedicated to bank and supporting web series and OTT releases. The theme of his upcoming show
has haunted the filmmaker for quite some time now.
The teaser for Showtime starts with a larger-than-life poster with Badshaah of Bollywood written on it. The role is played by none other than the versatile Emraan Hashmi.

His introductory dialogue is whistle-worthy as he says, 'Nepotism ke mukhaute ke peeche aakhir mein har outsider insider banna chahta hai (at the end, every outsider wants to become an insider behind the garb of nepotism)."

As the Showtime teaser approaches its end,
Naseeruddin Shah's character seems to be the mastermind of the entire showbiz game, who says, "Cinema dhandha nahi dharam hai saadda (cinema is not my business but my religion)."
Sharing the clip on Instagram, Karan Johar wrote, 'Welcome to the world that functions on lights, cameras, and action! Showtime releases next year on Disney+ Hotstar.
On the work front
Emraan Hashmi was recently seen in
Tiger 3 as the antagonist. The movie went on to do exceptionally well at the box office. It also starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead.
As for Naseeruddin Shah, he garnered accolades for playing Akbar in his latest web series, Taj: Divided by Blood. It also featured Aditi Rao Hydari, Dharmendra, Zarina Wahab, and Rahul Bose in pivotal roles.
