Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial brings together a stellar star cast, including the glorious comeback of veteran actor Shekhar Suman and his son, Adhyayan Suman, in pivotal roles.
The actor, who is busy promoting his upcoming Netflix web series, sat down with several media houses and YouTubers for a candid chat. In one of the interviews, Shekhar Suman recalled the challenging phase of his life when he lost his older son, Aayush Suman.
For the uninitated, the actor's older son Aayush passed away at the tender age of 11 after suffering from a severe heart ailment. In a recent interview, the
Dekh Bhai Dekh actor spoke about how he dealt with the terrible loss.
Shekhar Suman recalls losing Aayush Suman
The veteran actor and his younger son, Adhyayan Suman, are gearing up for the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi. The two will play lead antagonists as they don the role of arrogant Mughal nawabs.

He got emotional and teary-eyed as he recalled the challenging phase of his life.
"Jab, I lost my son, Aayush. Das saal ki umar main maine jab usse kho diya tha toh main zindagi se poori tarah tabah aur barbaad ho gaya tha. Mujhe jeena hi nahi tha. I lost a part of my heart who was dearest to me," he said.
He further recalled, "Aur main zameen par sar patak ke roya tha. Phir uske baad mujhe jeene ki iccha bhi nahi thi (I lost Aayush when he was 10 years old, and I was devastated. I cried while beating my head to the ground.)'
Once a prominent actor on television and in the film industry, Shekhar Suman harks back to when he lost interest in life and chased success after he lost his son.

Ek dikhaave ki duniya this jahan main hass muskura deta tha ya for economic necessity, kyuki mujhe ghar chalana tha. Par mujhe jeene ki iccha nahi thi (I was lifeless. I was pretending to laugh or had to work to run my household, but I did not have the will to live).'
Shekhar also recalled that while there were tears of sadness overwhelming him, he also shed happy tears when the Heeramandi director called him to praise his younger son, Adhyayan Suman's acting prowess.

The period drama based on the infamous red-light area of Lahore marks Bhansali's digital directorial debut.
Heeramandi revolves around the royal pre-partition era, where the courtesans of the region were once the reigning queens.
The show will emphasize the relationship between the courtesans and the Mughal nawabs, how Britishers destroyed the region, the inner politics, and everything in between.
The upcoming web series brings together a magnificent cast of artists like Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha,

Heeramandi is all set to release on May 1 on Netflix.
