Shehnaz Treasury Recalls Being Called `Too Fat` On The Sets Of Ishq Vishk

Shehnaz Treasury shares "ridiculous incidents" from Ishq Vishk sets
Actress-turned-content-creator Shehnaaz Treasury has had a rather remarkable journey when it comes to being on the big screen. She became a household name with her film, Ishq Vishk, where she starred alongside Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao.
However, it was not all beds of roses for Treasury on the sets of Ishq Vishk. She recently shared some `ridiculous incidents` from back in the day when she was body-shamed and called "too fat."
Shehnaz Treasury recalls being put on a crazy diet
The travel vlogger sat down for a chat with ETimes and shared how the film`s director would body-shame her and force her to go on a strict diet to appear thinner on screen.
For the uninitiated, Shehnaz played the role of Alisha in Ishq Vishk, where she was considered the prettiest girl in college.

Talking about the pressure of playing the part, she shared, “In college, there was all that pressure too—you know, like, ‘Neeli neeli aankhon wali kaun hai wo’—and then the director was like, ‘You’ve got to wear green lenses, you have to be perfect, you have to look great. Oh, you don’t look good in some angles; actresses are supposed to look good in all angles,’ as if it was my fault.”
Treasury further shared how she was put on a crazy diet to appear thinner while another actress (Amrita Rao) was padded up for being too thin.
“I was told, ‘Oh, you’re too fat, your belly is sticking out, you need to diet.’ The other girl in the movie was so thin — they were padding her, putting pads on her — while they were trying to shrink me. So I was on some crazy diet. They wouldn’t let me eat. It was so ridiculous. And it was so sad. Looking back, I can’t believe we had to go through those things. In fact, the world we live in today is much nicer to actors and more accepting of all shapes and sizes,” she added.

The Ken Ghosh directorial marked Shahid Kapoor`s debut. The film follows the story of childhood friends Rajiv Mathur (Shahid) and Payal Mehra (Amrita), who grow up together.
Payal falls in love with Rajiv; however, he is attracted to Alisha (Shehnaz) only for the way she looks. But eventually Rajiv and Payal end up together after he realises she is the one for him.
The 2003 film was recently remade by Nipun Dharmadhikari in 2024. It starred Pashmina Roshan, Rohit Saraf, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grrewal in the lead.
